Meet Sadie

Sadie (spayed female)
2 years - Keeshond mix (37lbs)
Adopted and returned due to lack of socialization and aggression
Described as active - affectionate - quiet/shy - playful
Lived indoors - Hyperactive

The following negatives were provided by the first owner. Please take this with a grain-of-salt as the owner confessed to yelling and hitting Sadie. She obviously hasn't had a good life so far and needs some extra TLC and to regain trust in people.

Negatives: Aggressive (when spanked) - Bark excessively - Dig - Escape artist - Fearful - Separation anxiety - Chew - Jumps on people - Chase
Positives: Housebroken - Walks on leash - Playful - Smart
Knows sit - place a treat in front of her and say 'go get it'
She loves playing with her stuffed cow and tug of war
Good w/ women, men, dogs & cats
While the previous owners said she was good with children and other animals, we are recommending no kids and an only-pet home.

Dogs aren't born bad. Every one of them starts out as an adorable puppy looking to be loved and taught about the world. But when humans let them down either by neglect or abuse, the animal gets all the blame and suffers.

That's Sadie's life story. She was owner released to us in May. The person said she barked, chewed, jumped and every other negative thing he could list. He then went on to say she was aggressive and fearful when he spanked and disciplined her. You think?!?!

Sadie lacked any socialization or proper training. She came to associate people with abuse and pain. She lost trust in the very people who she should be able to count on for basic care and companionship.

Her past has led Sadie to being misunderstood. She's not a bad dog. In fact she is very sweet once she gets to know you. We have volunteers who work with her each week and have built an amazing bond with Sadie. They'll hang out together for long periods of time petting her and giving her treats. They love on her and Sadie gives them affection back.

Because of her rough past, we are recommending Sadie be placed in an adult-only home. A calm, stress-free environment would be best - a place where she can truly relax and develop a bond with her person. She needs a home with no cats and if there is another dog, a meet-and-greet would be required first.

Sadie needs help. She needs someone who is understanding. Who can look beyond the abuse and can see the amazing dog we know she can be.
