Dory is a beautiful, shy, very sweet 6 year old puppy mill girl. She’s just learning about the world outside a cage and is doing wonderfully adjusting to her new life. She’s very submissive and will lay down when you go to pick her up but once you’ve got her in your arms she’ll lay her head on your shoulder and snuggle.

We named her Dory because she “swims” when you carry her. This is very typical of a puppy mill dog who is not accustomed to being picked up. As she becomes more comfortable with being carried, she may overcome this behavior. Dory is working on potty training and is doing quite well. She will need a family that can keep her on a schedule and are willing to continue her house training. She’s learning to go on walks, which will really help the potty training as well. Because Dory was not exposed to anything outside the puppy mill, everything is new for her, and can often be frightening. As a result, she feels most comfortable and secure being in the house. She really doesn’t care to be outside or too far away from the house, and even when out in her own yard she only wants to head back inside. Once out of the yard she only wants to go back home. So a quiet, nonactive home where she can feel safe would be best for her. She’s starting to play with the other small dogs in her foster home with toys in short bursts between naps. We’re also working on socialization by visiting patios, Home Depot, nurseries, pet stores and neighbors, pretty much anywhere the let you bring a well behaved pup. Dory’s got a very busy schedule while she looks for a home!

Dory is spayed, current on vaccinations, microchipped and on heartworm and flea/tick preventative. She will be available for adoption after she has a dental on June 12th. Her adoption fee is $320.00 plus $24.08 sales tax for a total of $344.08. Her foster mom would like her adoptive home to be within 75 miles of Woodbury Mn.
