Greg Labrador Retriever & Poodle Mix Bridgeton, MO

Greg is a very sweet 8 month old boy (born in February) who loves to snuggle and be with his human. Greg needs a special home that will understand his needs and give him the life he deserves. Greg has been diagnosed with severe Hemophilia A (Factor VIII deficiency). This means he is very low in one type of clotting factor, due to a gene mutation that ran in his family. His value is considerably lower than his brother George, and he will need a vigilant owner, committed to his care for the rest of his life. Greg had abnormal bleeding after his neuter, and required intervention from a specialist to perform a plasma transfusion. There is a high probability Greg will need future transfusions with any trauma and would need them prior to any surgical procedure. If Greg suffers any trauma, no matter the severity, he may require quick action, specialized care, and plasma transfusion to provide his body with what it needs to heal. Our local specialist does feel in the right home, Greg will lead a happy life. She did stress his owners need to understand his disease and understand the financial commitment his care will be. She recommended he be an only dog or homed with a very quiet older dog. We will not consider homes with children under the age of 15 for Greg. Greg will not be able to handle rough play or heavy exercise or activity. We will need his family to have an excellent relationship with their vet, as Greg not only needs a family to commit to him, he also needs a great vet! Please remember if you are inquiring about Greg: He needs a very specialized home and we will not make exceptions to his needs. We will also require confirmation from you vet of a discussion between a doctor and your family, to understand what needs Greg may have in the future. Hemophilia A may shorten Greg’s life span or he may lead a full life – either way, he deserves to have a home and loving family! If your preliminary application/vet check is approved, we are more than happy to provide a copy of Greg’s clotting profile to your vet for review. Greg is neutered, up to date on all his vaccines, heart worm negative, on heart worm preventative, and microchipped. Greg’s adoption fee is $300.00. WE DO NOT ACCEPT PERSONAL CHECKS.
