Jacky - Super smart Basset mix Basset Hound & Labrador Retriever Mix Plano, TX

Jacky is an adorable mutt. Her mom, Lucy, is a 45lb black and white Lab / Aussie mix and based on a DNA test done in one of her siblings we found out the dad is 100% basset hound. She was born the runt of the litter but has outgrown 2 litter mates since then. She was born in foster care as her mom was found as a stray in east Texas already very pregnant. About a week after she arrived in her foster home, on March 5th, she had 8 adorable puppies and Jacky was the last one to come out. At 4.5 months of age, she weighs about 23lb and is adorable as can be. She learned to use the doggy door in her foster home and consistently uses it to go potty outside and to go play in the sun. Jacky loooves attention so she will seek us out anytime we are around to ask to be petted and held. She is very snuggly so she can be very vocal when she is ready to snuggle and no one around is picking her up to fulfill that desire. She loves playing with her litter mates and is always in the middle of the pack. Since she is such a social dog, we think she would do best in a home with another dog to keep her company or a cat that likes dogs. All puppies have been socialized with family, friends and neighbors of all ages from the time they were first born. Jacky does well with kids, loves playing with other dogs and though her foster home doesn’t have any cats, we have no doubt she would think of cats as a companion and a new toy to play with. She is probably the smartest from the litter, she is very emotionally in tune with us, she senses when we are stressed or upset and is very observant to be there to support us but not draw attention to herself during those times. She is also sooo excited to get attention and be loved on. She loves going on walks and does great on a leash. Often times we take her on walks off leash as she always stays nearby. She also loves going for a swim at the creek near the house. She is spayed, fully vaccinated and microchipped and ready to find her forever family that is looking for someone to complete their family. Anyone interested in our dogs must be over 21. We are only able to adopt to homes within a reasonable driving distance of the dog's foster home (zip 75082) and please be prepared for a home visit by one of our volunteers. We do not adopt on first-come-first-served basis, we want to make sure the dog is right for the family and vice versa based on what we know about the dog's personality, habits and behaviors. Our adoption fee for dogs is $175.
