Meet Zeus
My name is Zeus. That’s right, Zeus! I’ve got a big name for an easygoing 44-pound male Puggle (Pug/Beagle). I’m a bit of an attention-hog, who loves being petted while leaning against you, playing more with you than with toys, and I’d prefer snuggling next to you, but would be very happy with a comfy place to sleep.
I’m great around other dogs and children (though I don’t like my tail pulled), but not sure about cats since I’ve never met them. I’m an enthusiastic 11 year old, who enjoys going on long walks and exploring new places. I’m leash trained, a fast leaner, and treat motivated.
So, you wouldn’t immediately know that I’m mostly blind now due to diabetes, which is being managed with insulin and prescription dog food. I can still see movement & shadows, I respond well when you talk to me, and my nose has always been a great guide. With my previous owner's heavy work schedule, I was home alone a lot, which neither of us wanted.
Also, my previous owner wants you to know that once or twice a year I experience mild seizures, when this happens I usually just sit and slightly shiver for a couple of minutes, and during this time you can pet me and let me know it’s going to be okay. Once it passes, I’m ready to play again or resume being petted. (Please consult your veterinarian for diagnostics and treatment options.)
I know some of this stuff about me may be a lot to consider when thinking about adopting me. Please know that ultimately I just want to be surrounded by people or that special person who will love me and I can love back.
