Vaccinations up to date, spayed / neutered, special needs. Charlotte takes a bit of time to warm up to new people and has snapped at several folks who approached her quickly before we could stop them. She snapped at her foster mom for the first 2 weeks of being in foster care because she didn't want to be touched by a stranger. Once Charlotte learns to trust someone, she is great though. She is happy and playful like a puppy and loves to cuddle. But, there is going to be a warm up period and any new adopter should be prepared to handle this. We also advise always having this dog up to date on her rabies vaccine.

Meet Charlotte

Meet the Queen - Charlotte! This little girl is a typical Pekingese diva who will befriend you on HER terms. Charlotte came to us from a situation where she was not socialized very much, and her family was forced to give her up due to an allergy in the household. She is approximately 3 years old and weighs 14 lbs. Charlotte is not for the faint of heart and will probably not make a good first time dog for someone. She needs someone with a little bit of experience and doggie-knowhow. Charlotte takes a bit of time to warm up to new people and has snapped at several folks who approached her quickly before we could stop them. She snapped at her foster mom for the first 2 weeks of being in foster care because she didn't want to be touched by a stranger. She also snapped at the other dogs for about a week. Once Charlotte learns to trust someone, she is great though. She is happy and playful like a puppy and loves to cuddle. She has become part of the pack in her foster home and gets along great with the other dogs. But, there is going to be a warm up period and any new adopter should be prepared to handle this. We also advise always having this dog up to date on her rabies vaccine.

Once Charlotte befriends you, she LOVES to play and wrestle. She will grab her foster mom's hand gently in her mouth and wrestle and play with her arm. She likes to go for walks and explore but also enjoys couch time and belly rubs. Charlotte lives with several other dogs and she gets along very well with everyone in the house. She has come a long way and now will play with the other dogs and loves to chase and wrestle. Because Charlotte is a young, energetic dog, we do think it's important for her to be in a home with a fenced yard.

Charlotte has done quite well with housebreaking, and she is crate trained. She can be a bit vocal in her crate sometimes though (in the morning or when her foster mom gets home from work). Charlotte is fully vaccinated and has been spayed. She is now ready to find a home of her own. Because of her history of biting strangers, we will not place her into a home with children.

If you are interested in giving Charlotte a loving, permanent home, please send us an email at steppingstonesrescue@gmail.com to fill out an application. Please note that a home visit is a required part of our adoption process, and Charlotte may need to meet someone several times before adoption to help the process of her warming up to a new person. Due to this, we are only able to consider applicants within a 60 mile radius. The adoption fee for every dog in our program is $150. This is non-negotiable. Information about the adoption process can be found on our website under the Adoption Process tab. If you have additional questions, please email us at steppingstonesrescue@gmail.com.
