READ MORE ABOUT CHIP

Chip is a handsome, sweet and loving, 5 year old Australian Labradoodle boy surrendered to DRC along with his litter mate brother. Their elderly former owner lost her husband and was forced to relocate. We were told the boys needed to be kept together. Turns out that they did not. And Chip is back in foster care and now ready for his furever home and family.

Chip has been through some rough times emotionally after experiencing the loss of the only home and person he had ever known. Unsocialized with limited exposure to the outside world and left to his own devices for most of his life, poor Chip felt responsible for managing his entire world, his environment and his more submissive brother. The boys were adopted together because that was stipulated by their former owner prior to surrender. But it became clear that they really needed to be separated when Chip began bullying his brother in their adoptive home.

We have since discovered that while tolerant of other dogs, Chip does best as the only dog in the home.

Chip is a true ALD as far as his personality and temperament. He is an extremely smart, emotionally intelligent, intuitive, loving, sensitive and vocal little guy. Out of sorts when he first arrived in foster care, it quickly became apparent that Chip and his brother must have lived a somewhat sheltered life with their elderly, previous owner. Shy when first meeting new people, Chip warms up quickly once he feels safe and will give you the "thumbs up" by climbing up into your lap for some loving and snuggles.

Chip is really a very sweet, loving and well behaved boy who so wants to please and attach. There is almost a quiet desperation in his eyes when you first meet him that dissipates once he gets to know you and is comfortable. He can be "growly" but he is just being vocal with his complaint of the moment. All things in his background considered, Chip is understandably, a somewhat insecure boy who really needs to find his special, one and only "true human companion" who will take the time to know him and understand him, and embrace and appreciate his little quirks. He seems to do better with men. This guy just needs to be showered with lots of love, praise, positive reinforcement and reassurances and provided with guidance and the sense of security he was so sadly deprived of in his original home.

Chip has impeccable potty and basic obedience manners, but we were sad to discover that he had no idea what to do with toys. We don't really know if he had ever been exposed to toys before arriving in foster care. Of course, now given the opportunity to indulge, he has discovered the joy of playtime with toys thanks to the coaching of his very professional foster siblings who happen to be pros. We also discovered that he will run away if not leashed or contained within a fenced in yard. We are not yet certain if this is a behavior that is a result of all he has been through, or if this is who he is. But he will absolutely need a home with yard surrounded by a physical fence at least 4 feet in height.

Chip is accustomed to being allowed on furniture and having the run of the house and only homes that allow dogs on furniture will be considered. He is a WONDERFUL and special boy who just needs an equally special home and person of his very own.

Chip will need a calm, quiet environment and an active, dog-savvy, ADULY ONLY home with a yard surrounded by a physical fence at least 4 feet in height where someone is around for at least part of the day. He is neutered, UTD on all shots and preventatives, is completely house-trained. Chip will be a wonderful addition to the right family.

You must be prepared for your dog to be an inside member of your family.
In most cases, a PHYSICAL FENCE IS REQUIRED in order to be considered for a DRC rescue doodle.

DRC Adoption donations typically range from: $300 - $600 and vary according to the age, health, temperament and location of each dog. Every doodle is an individual and every doodle has his/her own specific needs and requirements. Adopters are selected based on compatibility, NOT on a "first come, first serve basis. At no time does DRC ever put the desires of applicants before or above the needs and requirements of rescue doodles in our program.
