Meet Duke - Courtesy Post
COURTESY POST.
Duke (approx. 5 y.o.) is a neutered/up to date on shots and healthy boy who is great with kids (yes, even young ones). Aloof at first, once he gets to know you he’ll show his love by leaning on you. Duke is a mellow guy who enjoys relaxing in his bed, basking in the sun by a window or hanging out under the table or chair you are working at. He is very much a people dog as opposed to a dog’s dog and because he loves people so much we think he’d do best in a home where someone is home a good amount of the day.
Our trainer has evaluated Duke and said that he looks and acts and presents issues JUST like a Shar Pei. He passes by most dogs and distracts fine. Doesn’t have high energy or excitement level but if he gets fixated he might be challenging to divert his focus. She recommends a home with large Asian breed experience and people who don’t need or want to take their dog to meet other dogs or go to dog parks. That’s not to say that if someone wanted to work with him on his social skills and fixation on large fluffy dogs he couldn’t become that kind of dog but he will need work in that area.
If you think Duke might be your next family member, please fill out our application at: www.ridgebacksandfriends.org (so the owner can collect info) and we will put you in touch with her owner. This dog is not a Ridgebacks and Friends dog, but a courtesy post
