Walt Siamese & Snowshoe Mix Mayfield, NY

Special needs - Walt is a Siamese mix with big beautiful blue eyes .
In February 2018, Walt arrived on transport the morning before the massive snow storm hit. He traveled from NC to Kitten Angels so that he had a chance of finding a forever home. He came from a hoarding situation and an area where even perfectly healthy cats are hard to get adopted.

When Walt arrived, there was nothing that indicated he had any health issues, but we soon discovered he had a heart murmur that was rated a 4 on a scale of 6. This was not good and Walt needed to see a specialist that could provide a diagnosis as to what was wrong with his heart.

At the beginning of June, Walt went to the specialist and Kitten Angels was told that Walt had moderate infundibular pulmonary stenosis (IPS). This condition refers to an obstruction of outflow from the right ventricle (RV) within the body of the RV. In layman terms this is an obstruction of blood flow from the heart to his body. This type of heart defect is uncommon in cats. Due to this condition, Walt gets tired easily and tends to sleep more than a normal cat of two years old. Walt’s heart must work harder to pump blood to do this his heart muscle grows larger which actually reduces the blood flow! To counteract this Walt takes a tiny piece of pill twice a day and so far, Walt is doing great! The medicine he takes costs less than $20 per month, less than you would spend on cat treats for him!

For Walt, he needs someone that will follow all the veterinarian's instructions and administer medication at the proper dosage and time. Walt will also need to rest in a stress-free environment -- away from children, pets (a laidback older cat would be fine), and noise -- to avoid putting undue stress on the heart. Walt’s lifespan should be a normal one as we discovered his condition in the early stages. With the proper care and concern, regular vet checks and his continued daily medicine, Walt has a chance at a normal life, but Walt needs the perfect family to give him a place in their home and hearts.

Please consider adopting Walt he is a sweetheart that likes to follow you around, talk to you and play quietly with his fuzzy mice. He accepts his medicine without a problem. He is a young gentle cat that doesn't have alot of confidence but he will warm up quickly once he feels safe.

Walt has a lot of love to give! Please consider adopting Walt..his medicine only cost less than $20 a month...for Walt it is priceless.

He does prefer a relatively quiet household with older children or no children. Walt does not like to be chased after. Mellow cats would be ok.

He is neutered, has had all his age appropriate vaccinations, tested negative for FeLV and FIV, and is litter trained.
