Meet Shakira
Meet Shakira! What a sweet, calm girl she is, as you can tell by her face. She loves people and affection.
Shakira does not seem to have been around other dogs a lot, but is making new friends and coming along nicely. She met the office cat at the vet, and both times seemed interested but not at all aggressive, so she may be ok with cats.
She enjoys walks and does fairly well on a leash, but loves to stop and sniff a lot. So far she sleeps through the night without a fuss, and does not mind being crated as long as she has plenty of play time, and actually likes to hand out in her crate. No interest in toys or balls so far, but that could change.
It looks like she had a pretty hard life before coming to rescue, and was in pretty rough shape, but is getting better every day and is very happy now. Because of that neglect, she is heartworm positive, and has already began the slow kill method. If the adopter prefers, we can do the quicker one after adoption at one of our vets.
