Tessa Yorkshire Terrier Kentville, NS

Introducing a great little dog who will only blossom in the right home. This is Tessa, a sweet Yorkshire Terrier who's officially 9 but thinks she's much younger. She is a delight - very curious about anything and everything. Fetch is a favourite and she brings back the ball every time. She loves a good toy party especially when there are sturdy ones that squeak and chase. Don't waste your money on toys without warranties as her enthusiasm will void those.

When Tessa came into rescue, her teeth were in bad shape. She has since received a full cleaning and had 7 extractions. She also had 2 cysts removed and another aspirated. The biopsy came back benign. She's now healthy and ready for her forever home.

We don't believe that Tessa had a lot of guidance and exposure to new things in her life so she will need your help and patience at times. She can go up stairs but will need encouragement coming down. She is almost house-trained and will go outside every time. She will use a pee pad inside, especially right after she eats. Her new family will need to continue her training. Tessa is crate trained and good with other dogs and cats. She's quiet in a crate for car rides. Tessa can be vocal when she plays - ok, her version of play-by-play to help you keep up with the action - so apartment living is not a good choice. She's very interested in coffee for some reason so care must be taken with mugs. And she likes children. Our foster's grand-son had a wonderful time with her. She wanted to play with him through the whole visit.

This beautiful little dog is happiest laying next to you on the couch or at your feet. Tessa loves giving kisses but only likes to be held for short periods. That may change in time. She just wants to be near you and she'll follow you anywhere. Tessa needs a loving, supportive family who will encourage her to be the best dog that she can be.
