Mr. Smudge is a very special boy looking for a very special home. This 1 year old black tri is an Aussie mix with a cute half tail who looks smaller than his 45 pounds would suggest. Mr. Smudge is housebroken, crate-trained, rides beautifully in a car and is learning to walk with a leash and harness. He knows a few commands and is learning more – he is one smart pup!
What makes sweet Mr. Smudge so special is that he is so afraid of people. He is making progress every day, but he is still so shy and it breaks your heart to see how badly he shakes when he meets someone new. Mr. Smudge loves other dogs and loves to play with other dogs. The dogs in his foster family are really helping him gain the confidence he needs and it is wonderful to watch him slowly come out of his shell. We would describe him as a medium energy, medium Velcro guy. He will stay close to the people he has learned to trust and happily accepts their snuggles and affection .
Mr. Smudge would love to find a home with a person or family who has the patience and understanding to let him come out of his shell at his own, slow pace. You will be rewarded with a very sweet young guy who will be your best friend-for-life. A fenced yard and at least one dogpal are must-haves. He has not been cat tested. Mr. Smudge is finishing his heartworm treatment and health-wise he will soon be as good as new! He will be ready for adoption in mid-to-late May. Mr. Smudge is fostered near Raleigh, NC.
