Meet Elizabeth

ELIZABETH, SPRINGER SPANIEL-BORDER COLLIE, FEMALE, 9 YRS old, 40 LB.

LIZZIE IS BEING FOSTERED IN THE RICHMOND VA AREA. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ELIZABETH, PLEASE GO TO WWW.MOMSVA.ORG AND COMPLETE AN APPLICATION.

Lizzie is a beautiful, exuberant Springer-border collie mix who started out having a rough life. The runt and only female in a litter of eight, the Pennsylvania farmer who owned her was going to let her die. Fortunately for Lizzie, a kind woman took her in, fed her from a bottle, and loved her.  But now that woman has fallen on some very difficult times and has to help an elderly mother.   MOMSVA was asked to help find Lizzie another home.

With all the changes happening in her home, poor Lizzie was being ignored. She was used to going for three mile walks every day, running off leash and chasing birds; all those fun things stopped happening.  In return for being ignored, Lizzie began acting out and started becoming aggressive toward the other 13-year old resident dog.

While Lizzie does get anxious at times, she settles down once she realizes what is going on, is so sweet and has perfect house manners.  She has been to obedience school primarily for socialization due to her history and knows the basics including "sit,” and "stay." Miss Liz walks on a leash well, but likes to lead.

This sweetheart loves to run off leash and is allowed to be off leash to chase birds. Lizzie does quite well at catching birds and returning them to her foster mom alive and well. She also loves to swim--her mom finds it difficult to keep her out of the water—summer’s coming!!  Lizzie tracks well, likes to herd other animals and birds, and can make a toy out of anything available—sticks, stone, string—clever, clever girl!!  She does go out and play with other dogs.

The new girl in town has never been around children and barks at anything with wheels such as strollers or bikes.  Lizzie loves to ride in a car, and, although she tolerates grooming, she is standoffish at the groomers.

What a love this young lady is!  She is now waiting for her forever family who should have room for her to run and run and run, some birds to chase
