MAPLE - a sweet happy Labradoodle

AGE: 12 months old (born March 2017)

WEIGHT: 66 lbs.

FENCE REQUIREMENT: At least 6' privacy fence where she can run and play. No e-fences will be considered.

COAT SHEDDING: beautiful black and brown low shedding coat; will need regular grooming and brushing to keep her coat maintained.

ENERGY LEVEL: High puppy energy; when she is awake and energetic, she is very playful but she will calm down and then take a nap; will need regular exercise.

ADULTS: initially shy but warms up quickly.
MEN: Maple is fearful of men and boys and will need patience and time to adjust to them. She is going to doggy daycare and training to get more socialization around men.

DOGS: Maple was surrendered with her littermates and will need a calm and friendly doggy sibling in her new home; she is currently living with two other dogs in her foster home and does great. She plays rough so would do best with a playful dog.

CATS: Unknown; she has had no exposure to cats except on walks and she wants to chase them.

KIDS: She is a sweetheart but not well socialized or trained prior to coming to IDOG. She jumps up on people to say hi. She is a bit timid around males. Ideally children who are older than 10 and who know how to be around dogs.

CAR RIDES: Loves the car and does great on rides.

CRATE: She is NOT a fan of the crate.

IDEAL HOME FOR MAPLE is one:
o That has a playful dog in the home that is calm and confident to help her build confidence
o That has an experienced dog owner who is patient and willing to give her time to adjust to her new home and will further train and socialize her
o That has someone who is home frequently and likes to snuggle
o That has a fully fenced yard
o In which she spends very limited or no time in a crate
--------------------
Maple was surrendered to IDOG with 3 of her sisters. She is still a young puppy and will need continued training and daily exercise....daily walks or runs would be ideal. She needs to expend her energy in order to be able to chill when it is time to settle. She is a bit skittish and slow to warm up since we believe she wasn't socialized as a young puppy. She is frightened of men and it will take time, patience, socialization and willingness to help her with this; she may never be fully comfortable around men or it may go away with continued exposure and patience.

She loves to go outside and explore the back yard (see attached video!). She should not be left alone outside as she can escape a fenced yard. She may be able to figure out how to escape from a fenced yard. We believe she was kept outside in her prior home so she have had practice figuring out escape routes.

Maple would like another dog in the home to keep her company. She will be most successful in her new home if there is a calm, well-behaved dog to romp with her and show her the ropes.

Here is what her foster mom had to say about Maple:
Maple craves human attention. She likes to curl up next to her human and she really likes belly rubs. She has learned to walk on the leash...doesn't pull, but likes to stop and sniff.

Maple will bark but typically only when following her sister, Clover's, lead. She likes to play with clothes and shoes and got into her foster mom's suitcase and took some clothes out into the backyard. She was able to unzip a duffle and get some clothes out of it. Very industrious! And she ate boots. So, her new family should be willing to work with her on access to items she shouldn't have.

Maple doesn't like the crate and would much rather be out of it.

Maple is spayed, microchipped, up-to-date on vaccines and on heartworm/flea/tick preventative. She is house-trained in her foster home but will likely need refresher training in her new home.
