Athena Shepherd Mix Manhattan, KS

Meet Athena! She's a sweet, calm, 1.5-year-old, shepherd mix, weighing around 68 lbs. She is spayed, up-to-date on her shots and microchipped.

Athena was rescued from the Wichita Animal Shelter where she was on the verge of being put down for foot sensitivity. Athena does not like her feet being touched, but when you do touch them she will lick you until you stop touching her!

She is a very loving dog who took a little while to break out of her shell. Now that she has broken out of her shell, we are able to see she is a very loving, young hearted dog. She loves attention and loves playing, she can entertain herself too if you leave toys laying around! Athena isn’t much of a cuddle bug unless you like to nap on the couch, other than that she likes her own bed. She loves meeting new people, she is very energetic when she does and will throw herself on you for attention. Athena is well trained and learns fast (with help of ANY kind of treat). She is kennel trained, but does not need one when you leave her home alone. She also is potty trained, she whines at you to let you know she needs to go out. Sometimes though she’ll whine to go outside, just to go out. She loves it.

When we first got Athena, she was around other dogs, but wasn’t really fond of them. She was in another foster home that had other dogs and started to warm up to them, but then moved to another foster home that she gets to be an only dog.

Overall if you’re looking for a playful, sweet, loving dog who can be well off by herself if need be then Athena is your pup!
