Meet Scout
Scout is what we refer to as a mini-lab. He looks much like a lab, but is only about 25 lb.
Scout's crate and leash-trained. He had initially been uncertain of car rides, but now that he's in a foster home with more opportunities to get out in public, he'll willingly climb in the backseat and is ready to roll :) He's a little timid when first meeting new dogs, with some barking / growling to ask for space and time to get used to the new dog. Within 10 minutes, though, he accepts the friendship of polite dogs.
Scout is house-trained, when kept on a regular schedule of frequent outings. He doesn't yet indicate when he has to go out, though, so staying on schedule is important to provide plenty of reinforcement for using appropriate areas outside for potty breaks.
Whether dogs / puppies come in as strays or owner surrenders, we frequently have to make our best guess as to birthdate and breed.
A vet reference is required to confirm responsible pet ownership. We suggest first time pet owners look for an adult dog for companionship and to gain experience.
All adoption fees cover two vaccinations plus spay / neuter if using our veterinarian. Additional fees for 3rd puppy vaccination, refundable spay/neuter deposit, etc. may apply. We are an all-volunteer, foster-based rescue. Available animals can be seen most Saturdays at Tractor Supply in Lenoir from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. For more information on our organization, our website is www.petpartnersrescue.org.
