Meet Dobbie-ADOPTED!
Update: I found my forever home! Thank you for visiting :)
--------------------
My name is Dobbie and I am a little 6 year old pure bred Yorkie, weighing at .7.8 lbs
My owners gave up on me because I was being aggressive whenever someone approached us. I was very protective (resource guarding) of my people and so they decided to surrender me to a local shelter.
Once placed in the shelter, I did not fair any better. The foster parent I stayed with only lasted a few days with me. They decided they couldn’t handle me because I bit them too. My time at the shelter was coming to an end and I was left in quarantine. I was evaluated and Snookie’s decided to give me a chance.
They placed me in a foster home with a handler they felt was best suited to help a dog like me. Seems it worked like a charm! Aside from air snapping once on the first day I arrived, I have not tried or attempted to bite in the two months I've been here. I was introduced to visitors, other small dogs and people in general with no issue. I go for walks with a pack of dogs and I love it!
Everyone is quite pleased with my progress and i have been very well behaved. I am obedient, affectionate and I won’t leave my foster parent's side. My favorite place to be is on the lap looking for kisses and cuddles.
I think people in the past really misunderstood me. I likely suffer from some anxiety that is fear based. It is a little more complex in the sense that any change, introduction or excitement, I get very anxious. My foster parent has a crate right beside the sofa so when I need to hide or feel uncertain, there is a place of safety for me. I am more insecure than anything else. In other words, I need a strong leader that can help me feel safe and let me be when I want to have a quiet, safe spot to go to. Following the other dogs in the home, has helped me as well.
Every day, I am getting more confident and less reactive in a stable environment.
I just need a chance to show you that even though I come with a history of biting, in the right environment and with the right people, I am a great dog. It just shows you that one dog can act one way in one home and be completely different in another one.
My foster parent thinks I am such an easy dog once you understand me. I am a real cutie! I am low shedding, toilet trained, quiet and very, very loving. I get along with other dogs (small ones) and I get along with cats. I am fully vetted (Neutered, vaccinated and chipped...)
If you have a flexible schedule, experience with dogs like me, my breed and a loving heart with patience and know how, please contact Snookie's at info@snookiessociety.com
Thank you!
