Hannah is a super friendly, happy and playful 18 month either Belgian Malinois or German shepherd/Lab/Hound mix rescued from the San Bernardino Animal Shelter. She is tall, and long, but thin, so currently weighs about 50 lbs. Based on her lighter frame and flat back she could be more Malinois. Hannah is just an oversized, sometimes goofy puppy. She has the look of Malinois or German shepherd but with ears flopped down like a Lab. Hannah loves everyone she meets. She likes other dogs, tries to get other dogs to play with her, shares pet beds with them, and seems unthreatened and comfortable with smaller dogs, but still shows some nervousness around (some) larger dogs. Well-balanced dogs, with a calm playful energy, would be good role models for Hannah.

Hannah can be very calm in the house and will lie near me for hours if I am working on the computer, however, if I get up to move about, she will also get up to see what is going on. She is the best dog riding in the car, and weather permitting, can wait for me for a short bit in the car, errand after errand, and it is a relaxing experience. Another thing I like about Hannah is that she can actually entertain herself with toys, and does not destroy them. Hannah also has a side of her that gets focused on goofing off, typically when there are other dogs around and she becomes distracted, but she is learning better listening skills. She lacks experience walking on the leash, so more practice is needed; but approaches people in a friendly manner.

Hannah is potty-trained and crate-trained. She eats in her crate, sleeps quietly in her crate at night, and is crated if I have to leave the house for a bit. She also chills in her crate during the day from time to time if not a whole lot is going on. Hannah is not fond of when I have to leave the house and she does not get to go with me, but I always come home to a happy pup that greets me from inside her crate and she has been fine crated for several hours. I think the nicest thing about Hannah is how super sweet and friendly she is to people. She is always wagging her tail. She is a very quiet dog (do not let the video fool you); I have only heard her very occasionally alert bark. Hannah would benefit from ongoing structure and training, to continue what our rescue has begun. I would like to find an adopter who will commit to provide Hannah with the appropriate exercise for her breed, instead of just letting play be her sole outlet. She would LOVE to have another dog in the home to play with her, but I will not make another dog in the home a requirement. Like many youngsters, Hannah is still figuring things out, but is learning to listen, and when it is time to keep calm.

Hannah is best suited if you meet the following:
• People who are not collectively gone from home for long, extended hours on a daily basis.
• Previous large dog experience a plus
• A large wire crate (42 inches) for Hannah to be securely left, inside the home, during a transitional phase, until she can be trusted to be left loose when folks are away from home.
• Ideal applicant age would be 30-55.
• We only adopt dogs as INDOOR/outdoor dogs no matter the size. Dogs should never be excluded to an outside area away from their people when the humans are at home. We appreciate when people take the time to teach their dog good house manners, and boundaries, instead of always having dogs outside. You do not need to give a dog the run of the entire house. Doggie doors are a plus. (Weather permitting, I am not opposed to a large breed dog being left in a secure, safe outdoor area, once trust is earned, when folks are gone from home; but the dog must be allowed to rejoin the family once home.)
• Some type of conventional backyard; no patios only please.

Hannah is spayed, fully vaccinated, Front-lined, dewormed, and micro-chipped. If you are interested in Hannah, please contact Angel’s Heart Dog Rescue at: adopt@angelsheartdogrescue.com.
