Meet Moose

Meet Moose! Moose is an 18 month old neutered boy that is microchipped and UTD on his vaccinations. His sire was a brindle colored Afghan Hound and his dam was a German Shorthaired Pointer. He is incredibly sweet, very affectionate and just wants to be wherever his human is. He is food motivated and eager to please. Moose gets anxious when left alone but he is doing well with crate training and positive reinforcement. He walks well on leash and knows limited basic commands. As a puppy, Moose was repeatedly attacked by another dog in his home and is now unsure of interactions with other dogs. He can greet them on-leash but quickly becomes unsure and can become fearful and overwhelmed. For this reason, we feel he would be most successful in an only dog home. The ideal adopter would have hound experience – both breeds are active and agile and have high prey drives. A 6’ fence is a requirement. NEAHR is committed to providing Moose with the tools he needs to be successful in a forever home. He will begin both private and group training lessons in January. Moose is in foster care in Salem, NH with North East Afghan Hound Rescue, Inc.
