Meet Bambi - ADOPTED

Bambi is a female Manchester Terrier, Mini Durbin and Formosan Mountain mix from the country of Taiwan; she is 15-month-old and weighs 33 pounds (as of 2/28/2018). She is fully grown and won’t get bigger unless being put on more weight.

Bambi's rescued story and completed medical treatments:

Bambi was rescued eight months ago at a MRT Station in Taipei on the day of Chinese Lunar New Year. She was 3-4-month-old at that time and was very boney with full of ticks. It was a very cold night in winter and Bambi was straying alone. The rescuer named her Bambi as she has extremely cute and big ears as the whit-tailed deer “Bambi” from the Walt Disney cartoon character.
Bambi was malnutrition and Ehrlichia positive when was rescued. After a month of medical treatments, Bambi has been free from Ehrlichia and also gained weight after months of being carefully cared. She has received the following medical tests: Distemper test, 4 Idexx (Heartworm, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasma Phagocytophilum), CBC, Biochemistry blood work, and two PCR tests (the second test to show that she is cured from Ehrlichia). Bambi is healthy and is negative on any disease or infection right now; her hips and joints are also in a great condition.

Bambi is spayed, de-wormed, up to date on all vaccinations including rabies shot. She is heartworm negative and on preventative treatment and is micro chipped. All Bambi's medical documents including the x-rays films on her hips will be given to her adopter when she is adopted.

Bambi’s temperament and personality:

Bambi is currently living in Taiwan with her foster dad and many dogs together; she gets along very well with dogs of all sizes and is also fine with cats. During daytime, the dogs at the foster home can free roam inside the house and outside the yard; at nights, Bambi and other four small breeds sleep in the living room on her own bed. Bambi cried when being crated; she is happier and doing much better with living in a confined area when people are not around.

At the beginning of living in the foster home, Bambi had a few accidents but now she is almost housebroken and can wait for nine hours until the following morning when the foster dad let her out to do her business.

On weekends, Bambi’s rescuer often visits Bambi at the foster home and takes Bambi and her own dogs out for field trips. They usually visit several places a day, and Bambi is always exciting with big smile on her face. Her rescuer said that when they stopped by a new place, Bambi was always the first dog rush out of the car, but when they arrived in her foster home at the end of the trip, Bambi seemed very sad and refused to get out of the car.

Bambi loves going for walks and walks very well on leash. She also loves car ride and is a great travel companion. She is very well-behaved in public. The rescuer often brings Bambi to the pet-friendly restaurants where she would order meals for herself, Bambi and her dogs; she said Bambi always very patiently waits for her turn.

Bambi is not passionate toward the strangers but is friendly. Her rescuer said that Bambi is a very sweet dog to the people whom she knows. Every time when she visits Bambi at the foster home, Bambi always stays by her side or lies on her chest while she was sitting on the couch and chatting with foster dad.

Bambi loves children and likes to stay nearby them. She is not food or toy aggressive or possessive toward both people and dogs. She is a little shy in a new environment but warms up quickly. Bambi is very smart, and she can learn new things after being taught only 1-2 time. She is young and playful but not hyper; we think she will do well with a moderately active family without or with little older children at 7-year-old and up.

We hope Bambi’s parents can include Bambi in your daily life and activities, such as taking her for outings or short trips instead of only taking her for neighbors walk. We really like Bambi to have the opportunities to experience different parts of her life that she had missed before.

Where is Bambi right now?

Bambi has arrived USA on 3/1/2018 and she is currently staying with our foster family in North Wilmington in Delaware. If you are seriously thinking to give Bambi a loving permanent home, please contact us to ask for an adoption application. Because we do not have a shelter to show people our dogs and all our rescues are living with our foster family, we do not accept stop-by visits if you are interested in seeing Bambi. Before meeting Bambi, the prospective adopter needs to fill out the application and gets approved.
