Ricky arrived from Korea on September 13. He is a small dog around 18 lbs. He is a mixed breed dog of unknown origin. We do not know if he is part dachshund or part spaniel, we are guessing - and petfinder does not have a MUTT option for us to choose.

He is a very friendly dog with people but is shy at first, and he has met some kids that he seemed to be fine with, however, he would prefer to live in an adult only home without children.

Ricky did have some separation anxiety when he arrived and did bark. However he is quite good now and is mostly quiet unless he hears noises outside, or sees other dogs through the window.

Ricky was not house trained when he arrived, but he has been doing so much better. I would say he is about 99% house trained, with the exception of a few accidents which would be my own fault.

His home should continue to have a solid feeding and bathrooming schedule to ensure that he doe not go backwards instead of forwards with his house training. Ricky does tend to mark in new places, however a belly band works very well to keep this under control, and this issue has also been almost fully resolved.

He is fearful outside away from where he feels safe, and will find any escape route out of a yard. He can never be left unattended outside in a yard, or should be kept on a long line while supervised in the yard. No off leash for Ricky until he builds confidence and perfect obedience recall.

Ricky is fine with dogs his size but has shown fear of large dogs. He does not behave aggressively towards large dogs, but tries his best to avoid them at all costs. Ricky would not enjoy off leash dog parks.

He does walk wonderfully on a leash and is very attentive to his humans. Ricky was in a shelter in Korea for a very long time, and it is his turn to be in a home environment so we can learn all we need to know about him, to be able to choose the perfect forever home for him.

Foster homes help the dog learn, and feel safe. Foster homes help the rescue determine what type of home would be the best suited for the dog. Foster homes are helping dogs have a TEMPORARY home until adopted. Rescue provides food, vetting and training tips.

If you are interested in JUST FOSTERING please submit a foster application.
(this means you have no intention of adopting the dog, but only providing a temporary home until the dog gets adopted)

If you are looking to adopt Ricky or foster to adopt Ricky, please submit the adoption application.

Ricky has been neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, flea treated and had a full dental cleaning. His adoption fee is $495

A home visit an application is mandatory.
