Callie Shar-Pei Chicago, IL

Callie is a very beautiful, cautious and playful, 40-pound, five to six-year-old, female chocolate Shar Pei looking for a very special dog-loving guardian.
 
Callie is a very loyal and loving dog to her people. She loves to play ball, carry stuffed animals around in her mouth, and go for long walks.

Once she loves someone, she becomes extremely protective. So, she needs a family that will keep her safe from her own impulses. She is reactive and nervous if a stranger grabs her collar. So, she needs a dog-lover who will protect her from people she’s not familiar with.

Callie is housebroken, crate-trained and non-destructive in the home. She does have a few dog friends, but she’d probably be happiest as the only pet in the home. For that reason, we would not recommend dog parks or doggie daycare for Callie.

Callie is very healthy, spayed, up-to-date on vaccines, micro-chipped and heartworm-tested negative.

She is currently at the Pei Land Rescue in Plano, Illinois. Her adoption fee of $300 benefits rescues pets.
