MINA LIVED WITH CATS: great with cats! ! !

We know Mina's history. She was bred and sold by a careless breeder who sold dogs to make a buck, not screening the family well or placing an active breed and active large puppy in an appropriate home. As a breeder or rescue or shelter worker, I would never have sold this gal to a family with a 2-yr-old toddler. But that breeder did.

So what they caused was a lot of heartache to the older children and parents as well as to the small child who because scared of the large puppy who learned to grab her hands for her cracker (or cracker crumb smell), whose long HAPPY TAIL slapped the child across the face and eyes causing a good deal of pain to the toddler, who bumped her and tossed the little gal to the floor when the pup was in the play mode.

All of us who are fans of the Labrador know this is what a Labradoodle probably would be like.

As a responsible, reputable, knowledgeable breeder... they should have seen that this was an active pup, NOT a good mix for a family with a toddler.

So the tears have flown and the money flew out the door too, having such a huge purchase for such a popular breed mix.

MINA came to our home September 3 and her life has changed. We are structured. No means "no". She gets lots of playtime outside with other dogs and we increased her food intake to calm down her food drive: all have made her very happy.

When MINA first came she had NO clue how to play correctly with other dogs and was an "IN-your-face-gal" making small and large dog alike want to spank her.

She thought life was A PARTYYYYY!!! Well, she may be the life of the party but now at least, she is not drunk with excess energy bottled up!!!

Being a very smart breed mix, she proved to be very intelligent and within 10 days we were able to allow her loose with the large and small dogs at the same time.

She is GREAT on a Gentle Leader, and after just one walk using the tool, she has greatly improved when wearing just a martingale collar. THIS GAL IS SMART!!!

We are seeking a dog savvy home so that this gal becomes a real charm in her new home. She would prefer the company of another dog to help wear down her energy and to just hang out with, but she would also do OK if her new owner(s) were active and liked to hike, bike, or jog or go for brisk walks.

She FETCHES and brings the ball back too! She might be your agility or Frisbee dog you have been searching for.

Mature weight should be 60 pound area.

Adoption fee is $600. This dog's owner is a friend to the BCSP and we are helping to re-home her at this high fee to help her family recover half of what they paid for her and $100 goes to the BCSP to pay for the spay that we gave MINA. There is no negotiation on her adoption fee.
