Pedro would love to meet you. He is a charming, sociable wee puppy. He's being fostered with big dogs, other puppies, a cat, goats and chickens and he's a friend to them all. "He's spunky and everyone who meets him falls in love", says his foster mom. In fact, Pedro's charm recently worked on a friendly police officer who let Pedro's foster mom off with a warning rather than a speeding ticket. What a handy guy to have around!

He is a speed demon and loves to race around the yard, despite having issues with one of his front legs. Sadly, when Pedro was a very tiny puppy, he sustained an injury to his leg that was not addressed with any veterinary care. Someone let this small boy down in a very big way. Although this leg doesn't currently cause Pedro any discomfort and he seems to have adapted his mobility, it is unknown if this will cause him issues in the future. For now, our vet has advised to wait and continue to monitor the injury to see if the bone fuses. Pedro needs a home that will be committed to dealing with whatever medical care is required for his leg and that could involve amputation. He is not suited to a home with children because he is so fragile and is a busy boy. He can easily get underfoot and would be put at risk of being stepped on.

Pedro is vocal but only when he wants something, especially cuddles, says his foster mom. He is not suited to living in an apartment due to his “howling” when he’s lonely. Like any puppy, his housetraining is a work in progress and he's been using pee pads in his pen, but sometimes this young boy still misses the mark, so to speak. He likes to ride in the car and fits nicely into a cat carrier.

Pedro is full of energy and love. He needs a home that is not only prepared to deal with all of the challenges associated with raising a small breed puppy, but also issues that may develop as a result of his injury. We can't guarantee he'll get you out of a speeding ticket, but we can guarantee he'll give you more love and adoration than you ever thought possible.

An adoption donation of $400 applies and a fenced yard is required. Pedro is up to date with his vaccines, dewormed, microchipped and a healthy boy (besides the bum leg). He also comes with one month of free pet insurance. His birthday is July 12, 2017 and at 8 weeks of age he weighs 4 lbs. We expect him to grow to be around 10 lbs.

Pet listings are updated daily. Unless it says otherwise at the top of this bio, this dog is still available for adoption.
