Meet Muffin
Geriatric (12 years old), Australian/Silky Terrier, female in need of a special Forever Home.
Hers is a long story---much of it unknown---MUFFIN was in an Arkansas shelter earlier this year....so counting her current ARRF foster home, this sweet ol' gal has been in a minimum of FIVE homes/shelters since March!
MUFFIN was in need of veterinary care (thanks Dr. Val!!) for major dental surgery/cleaning (all four of her canines have been extracted!); she's got cataracts in both eyes; a benign tumor on her tummy; and a constantly luxating patella (i.e., her knee keeps popping in/out); but she's been a trouper throughout and has now recovered, off antibiotics and ready to start a new Life of Luxury in her golden years.
The best type home environment for MUFFIN should be one with lots of TLC and addresses her various physical needs...she loves walks and being outside; but her knee pops out often and she starts limping; although she can go up and down stairs, best to have limited access to stairs where she could fall during one of her knee "episodes". No small children due to her fragile physical condition. Access to couches & beds via "doggy stairs" as she does tend to enjoy lots of "couch time" and naps.
Hard kibble NOT recommended due to lack of alot of teeth (she's currently on HONEST KITCHEN dehydrated, grain-free food and happily laps up her meals).
Although MUFFIN gets along fine with other small, very "other-dog-friendly" dogs at her foster home; she was recently attacked by another small dog at a previous home so maybe an only (or one small VERY well-socialized) dog home would be preferred.
Favorite past-times include following her "person" around the house like a shadow and finding comfy beds, pillows, blankets, etc. for her frequent "princess naps"....and just generally being a sweet, quiet, gentle love-bug (altho she can become a rather talkative "Miss Bossypants" if left in a kennel much longer than it takes her to safely eat her meals without interference by another dog).
