Rowan Boxer Mix Cincinnati, OH

Half-brothers, Rowan & Kipling, were dumped at a very high kill pound. Sadly as bad as this pound is, where they were before arriving at the pound was just as bad and maybe even worse. These beautiful boys along with the seven other dogs from this same situation were kept chained up outdoors and only fed barely enough to keep them alive. Thankfully they are safe at STAF. Both Rowan and Kipling are Boxer mixes.

Rowan looks to be nearly all Boxer and right around a year old. Since both Rowan and Kipling had been starved for most of their life we have been very careful on how we are feeding them, making sure they work their way up to eating a full meal twice a day. Rowan has the typical wiggle-waggle boxer butt and he is so happy to meet every new person he sees. Rowan is a happy boy:)

A STAF volunteer wrote after taking Rowan to the park for a nice long walk:
“Rowan was such a good boy on his trip to the park today. He is sweet and gentle. He loved our walk in the woods and was interested and friendly with all the people we passed. Since it was my first time spending time with Rowan I stopped several times along the way to pet him and just get to know him. He looked me right in the eye with big, soulful eyes and would give me a big kiss. He was very mellow but loved sniffing and walking and meeting everyone we passed. When we returned to his run, as I was unhooking his harness he pressed against me and gave me a big kiss. Rowan is a loving guy who is learning that the people around him are looking out for him and want a good life for him. He deserves the best.”

We have to agree with the volunteer; both Rowan and Kipling deserve nothing but the best. It is always so amazing to us to know dogs like Rowan and Kipling and what they have been through. But they carry no grudges, they never complain and although they will most likely never forget, they somehow manage to forgive and go one to be devoted, loyal and loving family members.

All of our animals are spayed/neutered and current on shots.
You must complete an application at the shelter prior to meeting any of our animals. (Sorry--our application is not available on-line or via email.)
We do not do same-day adoptions; we ask that you return for a follow-up visit before taking an animal home.
We require a fenced yard (sorry--no invisible fences) for homes with children under age 11.
We do request vet and personal references.
At this time, we are only able to consider applicants within 150 miles of Cincinnati.
