Meet Izzy
Hi, my name is Izzy! I am an older gal at 13 years old. I arrived here with another dog after our owner passed away.
I am a very friendly, loving dog. When I arrived at the shelter, staff noticed my back legs seemed wobbly at times. I went to the vet and had a check up, as well as some x-rays and bloodwork (which looks fantastic, especially for a girl of my age). The vet says I likely had a back injury in the past which has left a couple of my vertebrae compressed. Back injuries can be common in dogs like me, who are short and a little long in the body. This means I will always be a little wobbly and unsteady in my back end. I get around fine, but will never be a marathon runner. I have been recently groomed, but will need regular brushing and hair cuts.
I have no experience with young children, and am seeking a home with no children under 7. While I have lived with other dogs, I don't have experience with cats.
I had a very much needed dental cleaning here, and my bad teeth were extracted too. This left me with just 9 teeth! I'm currently eating canned dog food, and could either stay on that or can eat kibble that has been soaked and softened with water.
If you're interested in adopting me, please ask staff for an application. Staff takes applications for all the dogs here to find us homes that suit our individual needs. I have been micro-chipped and am up to date on my rabies and DAPP vaccines. My adoption fee is $120 (+ $20 county license), but could be negotiable for the right home.
