Meet Lancelot

Lancelot is currently living in a foster home. Please submit an application and then we'll arrange a time for you to meet him in his foster home.

I swear, if Sir Lancelot was my dog I'd be torn between renaming him either Beaker (Muppets) or Theron Greyjoy (Game of Thrones). He has a look similar to these characters and a bit of a mix of their personalities.
Lance was one of 13 other dogs (and one cat) that was confiscated by the police during a police bust and initially brought to Chicago Animal Control. While there he was in the Safe Humane Court Case Dog program and really blossomed and thrived. He is obviously used to a large pack and now is trying to adjust to life in a smaller pack with his canine foster bro, Chief. He is about 4 years old and has a chill energy mixed with a"what do I do now?" energy. He needs time to adjust to the big change in his life and find his order so he can calm down and just have fun being a dog. He paces nervously back and forth because he's not sure what to do, but he is so gentle and sweet that he can do well in any type of household. I've yet to hear him bark outside of when he is sleeping and obviously having an active dream. He is great with the cats because he is afraid of them. He is a smaller guy and weighs about 40lbs.He has been around my neighbors small children and I am confident he'd do well in a house with kids. He doesn't jump, get into your stuff, he is fine in his crate and doesn't make a peep. He is very well sweetie pie. He also has free behavior modification training for life through Safe Humane Chicago!

His new forever family will have to understand that he is either decompressing after being bopped around from his fist home, to CACC and then to my house or else he may just have some ongoing significant anxieties. His adoptive family will have to understand that depending how Lance's adjustment in the new home goes they might have to consult a vet about meds so he has a better quality of life; we've seen other dogs who experience some anxiety adjusting to the good life thrive on medication so we'll see what the future holds for this sweet buddy!

He was great in playgroup when he was at Chicago Animal Care and Control and seems as though he'd really thrive living in a home with another confident dog to show him the ropes and help this lovebug further acclimate to the life he deserves!

Lancelot is now neutered, vaccinated, heartwom tested, and microchipped. He's about four years old and his adoption fee is $300. If interested, you can access our application here: http://www.onetail.org/adoption/apply/
