Meet Big Foot

This big boy is a 6 year old English Mastiff named Big Foot. He spent most of his life outdoors and didn't know what it was like to live indoors with a family. We realized that Big Foot never saw a vet and didn't seem to have his basic medical needs met. So, we gladly took him in, brought him to the vet, and placed him in a loving foster home with dog friends and an amazing foster mom.

Big Foot is initially nervous when meeting new people but warms up quickly with proper introductions. His foster mom says that he is always happy, affectionate and loves to be pet. He needs to have the company of other dogs and would do well in a home with dogs of all shapes and sizes. Big Foot seems to have a high prey drive when it comes to small animals such as squirrels, so we highly recommend him going to a home without cats. Due to his size, he would do also best in a home with children over the age of 10.

Despite his stature, he is a big baby at heart. Big Foot is afraid of thunderstorms, fireworks and also of people approaching him too quickly. He gets anxious when people try to stand over him, so maybe he was disciplined this way in his previous home. He is not aggressive towards people, but sneaking up on him causes him to be very nervous. Big Foot definitely needs to have slow introductions when meeting new people and have his personal space respected.

Big Foot is housebroken and only pulls slightly on a leash. He is however still learning some basic obedience skills and crate training. He is heart worm positive and will need to continue treatment in his new home at no cost to his new family. If you are interested in Big Foot or any of our other dogs, please feel free to email us at: info@bullpenrescue.org or complete our Adoption Application on our website under the "work with us" tab.

We highly recommend that our potential adopters fill out an online application as soon as possible, as it greatly expedites the process of finding the right dog for your situation. The adoption app is available on our website (www.bullpenrescue.org) under the 'work with us' tab. If you choose not to fill out an application before inquiring about a particular dog, please briefly tell us about yourself, family, and lifestyle since this will help us determine if the dog you’re interested in is a good match.

Our dogs are available for adoption nationwide but preference is given to adopters willing to do an in-person meeting. Please understand that our dogs are not adopted on a first-come, first-serve basis, but rather we strive for a “perfect placement” so we know that they will not be failed again.
