SugarBear in NY - The Sweetest Great Pyrenees & Akbash Mix Rochester, NY

Sugar Bear is as sweet as her name. She's a Pyrenees/Akbash mix, which we have found to be an excellent combination of breeds. Akbash are taller and lankier than Pyrs and can be energetic jumpers, so a good sized yard and 5 foot or higher fence are a must. Their beautiful white coats are shorter and easier to maintain than a Pyr coat but they still shed and need brushing. Sugar Bear is a gentle dog who loves to be with her people. She is happy to sit when you ask her to, then will give you “the look” like she`s waiting for her next command. Her dark liquid eyes say she is hanging on your every word! No one else will ever look at you so lovingly. Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature (www.nationalpyr.org/know-the-breed) and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority.
