Meet Jed

Once upon a time, someone let Jed down. Jed's ideal adopter(s) will provide him with stability and will be committed to sharing their life with him. Jed needs a special adopter to invest patience and love first. He must believe in and trust his adopter before he can then believe in himself. Jed is fearful of strangers and its uncertain if he will ever get over that uncomfortable feeling he gets around them. Jed is quiet and not aggressive in any way, but prefers to not be touched by strangers or people he has not had the opportunity to bond with. Once Jed trusts you, he will go anywhere and do anything with you and he is able to live life to the fullest. We are going to recommend Jed not go to a home with young children as kids want to touch and pet him before he ever gets a chance to know them. Strangers reaching out and touching Jed is stressful to this boy. Jed enjoys car rides and walks great on a leash, even in downtown settings. He ignores distractions. Foster mom says that Jed, a 72 pound, 2 year old, hound/Dane mix, is a young man with an old soul. Jed is a low energy guy who will do best living with other dogs. He currently lives with 5 dogs and a 20yr old dog savvy cat in his foster home. Foster mom says he doesn’t have a mean bone in his body. Jed is house trained, and knows his basic commands. He’s gentle and well behaved. He’s non-destructive and can be left with free reign of the house. That said Jed would not thrive in a home where he was left alone for long hours. His ideal home would have his people and pack around for most parts of the day. Jed sleeps on a dog bed on the floor at his foster home, but foster folks say he’d probably love to sleep with his people in bed — that will be for them to decide, though. Jed is going to make someone very happy. His deep affection and gentle spirit are sure to win the patient heart of his forever home.
