Meet Oakley
Name: Oakley

Oakley is an adult Belgian Malinois who has seen a lot in his short life. He came in to our shelter partners in the south emaciated, covered in buckshot pellets, a bullet in his elbow, and terrified of the world. Quick movements, hands reaching towards him sent him to the ground expecting the worst and belly crawling away to avoid being hurt. Give him a bit to settle in, build up trust, and gain some confidence and you have yourself a total puppy who loves to run, play, fetch, swim, and have a blast. He is the stereotypical super smart, high energy Malinois once he is comfortable in a home. He is living the puppyhood he never got to have before and loving it. Outside his comfort zone or when changes happen, he still reverts to his leery self but he has come a long long way since coming to rescue. His primary reaction is just to move away from uncomfortable situations. With his foster, and at his foster home, he is a silly, playful, always happy guy with a puppy spirit and endless energy. Once he gets to know you, as he has with some of his foster humans friends, he will come for pets and love. Oakley is tolerant of most other large breed dogs, but no cats or small animals for him. He is housetrained and working through some issues in the crate and doing well. He requires an experienced working dog home who will continue to train and exercise him properly both physically and mentally. He does require a physically fenced yard and an adult-only home. We do not ship our dogs so please keep that in mind if you are outside the MN/WI area.
Requirements: Fenced yard. No cats. Adult-only home.
