Meet Gus: Adopted!

Date of birth: 5/2015

9/15/2017: Gus is a super cute black and white Lab/Border Collie mix. He’s 2 years old and weighs 54 lbs. Gus LOVES people! He also loves to cuddle on the couch. He sits nicely for treats. Gus is smart and playful. He enjoys playing fetch and he brings the ball back. He gets along well with other dogs and has been in a foster home where he loved playing with the other dogs there.

We'd like Gus to be adopted by someone who is home a lot and also has another dog. He was recently adopted and returned because of separation anxiety. He did much better in his foster home where there were other dogs and his separation anxiety wasn't a problem in that environment. He does need a home without cats.

Gus has been neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and tested for heartworms. He was a stray and we found him hanging out on our property. He’s a wonderful guy!

MORE ON ADOPTING OUR DOGS...

Please visit our web site at HSGKC.ORG for more information about our adoption process, our adoption fees and all that's included, and for a pet adoption application.

> An application is required to adopt a pet and applicants must meet our adoption requirements. We encourage you to fill out an online adoption application and submit it before you come to see us. This helps us process your application more quickly and we can schedule an appointment for you to come in so that our small staff can serve you best. If you decide you'd like to adopt one of the pets you meet, we reserve the pet for you but we generally don't send the pet home with you that day. We’ll instead schedule a pick up date and time that’s convenient for you.

> Our goal is to send you home with a healthy pet and any information and support you may need to help your new pet adjust to his or her new home. All of our dogs & puppies have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, treated for fleas & ticks, tested for heartworms (7 mo. and over), and are on monthly heartworm preventative. Puppies who are too young to receive all the necessary puppy boosters and/or first rabies shot may be brought back to us for those vaccines at no extra charge. You will also receive a leash, collar, coupons for pet supplies and services, toys, and educational materials. And we'll give your dog a bath before he or she goes home!

> Please note that we prefer and may require a fenced yard for many of our dogs. Exceptions are made on an individual basis depending on the dog's needs, the person's dog experience, the dog's and person's activity levels, home environment and other factors.

Thank you for searching for a shelter pet!
