Meet Brian

Yes this dog is available.

The world has seen its share of cool guys who happen to be blind. The likes of Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles and Jeff Healey come to mind...brilliant guys, talented guys and very, very cool. Their blindness never effected their musical acccomplishments and it certainly didn't impact their enjoyment of life. Kind of like Brian. Brian doesn't require much special treatment. Check out his video. He loves life and is the life of the party. At 35 lbs, Brian is the perfect snuggler. He can't get enough love. He seems to love everyone and everything and is enjoying all his new friends in his foster home.

If it wasn't for the kindness of a stranger on a busy highway, Brian might not be here to share his particular brand of cool. Someone saw Brian, lost and alone, almost get hit by a car. He was brought to the pound and is now under the care of HART. The exact cause of Brian's visual impairment is detached retinas. He perhaps has some sight, but given how he functions, it doesn't seem to matter! He is a sweet, happy, sociable dog. He has clearly never lived in a house before and he's enjoying every minute of cozy couch naps and snuffling for fallen treats on the kitchen floor. He loves his meals, and if you lose track of time, he'll remind you with a bit of his hound bellow. He can go up and down stairs, get in and out of the car and even find the dog door in his foster home. He is especially good at climbing into your lap for that super snuggle. Brian loves to go for walks and, as a medium energy guy, gets a big kick out of toddling around the backyard.

Because he is first and foremost a hound (albeit a super cool one), Brian's new family will need to have a fully fenced and secure yard. His houndy howl isn't suited to apartment living. He is great with kids and other dogs. He's adjusting to crate training well and will usually serenade everyone with a good night howl before settling down to sleep. His foster family has discovered that he isn't a fan of thunder but he finds his way to his crate and settles in to wait out the storm.

Brian needs a family who can appreciate how fantastic he is. He needs and deserves all the love he can get. He sure has a lot of love to give. If you think you can give Brian the home he needs, please apply to adopt. You'll have the coolest dog on the block.

If you'd like to adopt Brian, please read about HART's screening process and download an adoption application to submit from the website: http://www.hartdogrescue.ca/adopt

An adoption donation of $350 applies and a fenced yard is required. Brian is neutered, up to date with his vaccines, heartworm tested negative, microchipped and in good health. He also comes with one month of free pet insurance. He is approximately 6-7 years old and weighs 35 lbs.

Pet listings are updated daily. Unless it says otherwise at the top of this bio, this dog is still available for adoption.
