Meet Gigi

As of 4/27 Gigi will be at our Adoption Center. Please complete an application and then come by during open hours to meet her!

If this girl's gorgeous face alone doesn't sell you, her personality will. The words to describe this 8 month old border collie/pointer mix(?) Playful, loving, gentle, goofy curious and active. Gigi is the best of both worlds, able to play and keep up with those holding a more energetic lifestyle but when home will give endless kisses and sleepy snuggles all hours of the day and night. Her tail never stops wagging -- she's a consistently happy and silly girl who is bound to make an exceptional addition for any household.

Gigi gets incredibly delightful and giddy with every adult, child and animal she meets so much so her entire body wiggles in happiness. She's a total sweetheart but is still a puppy and does often rear up on her hind legs to get closer to your face for lots of kisses (LOVES to lick ears). On walks, Gigi is quick to listen but does occasionally show her more stubborn side with animals and certain scents discovered along the way (but these moments are sporadic and inconsistent). Verbal commands, treats, and praise work best to motivate and teach this pup. When kept on a schedule, she is already house trained and can hold her bladder through the night.

This gal has had several doggie dates with a range of sizes and breeds (both from a toy poodle all the way to a standard great dane) and is equally sweet, submissive and polite in play with all. She is not aggressive, territorial or hostile in nature with food, toys or people. Often she reverts to laying on her back when other animals approach her in play and does more licking, pouncing and following behind than biting or jumping). Because of her age, Gigi tends to become restless and bored more easily and will need a home that can provide constant mental and physical stimulation to keep her working. She would make an excellent companion for a light runner (someone that runs an average 1-3 miles a day) or an even better younger sister to an adult pup that could show her the ropes on how to behave when left alone.

Gigi incredibly sharp, smart (knows and responds to her name very well) and above all food motivated -- we haven't found a treat or toy she doesn't like, which makes teaching her tricks easy and fun. "Sit" and "drop" are already mastered and we're almost there with "down". This dog would excel with basic obedience training and we feel she'd equally enjoy working her brain too! Gigi is a very shy girl at times and still acclimating to the sights and sounds of the big city.

The one thing we're not sure of is her ability to be left alone. Though we've made progress introducing the crate to her and packing it with tons of toys, treats and padding, Gigi becomes extremely anxious when crated and tends to work diligently until she's found a way muscle out at any cost. If it were up to her, she'd never leave your side or room you're in (even if you leave while she's playing with a toy, she'll bring that toy with her and follow you). Gigi attaches/bonds very quickly and because of this, does show separation anxiety and when left alone. Therefore, we are looking for a home for Gigi where someone is often home and/or a single family situation versus an apartment.

Though this 8 month old pup will require a some work and patience, her loyalty to you and her sunggly, affectionate, derpy smiley ways will absolutely make every minute you spend with her worth it. Pack a tennis ball and come on over to the One Tail at a Time house to meet this cutie today!

Gigi is now spayed, vaccianted, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $300 and if interested our application can be accessed here: http://www.onetail.org/adoption/apply/
