Meet Kron

KRON IS AVAILABLE FOR FOSTER OR ADOPTION

BBBR Volunteer and Foster Mom Abby fostered Kron for the weekend. She says: Kron has been relaxed and easy to handle since he arrived.
On the way home, we stopped at my husband's office for a meet & greet. Kron was as friendly as can be. Then later in the day when my husband arrived home, Kron gave him a big, happy greeting. Kron was so excited that he even whacked himself in the face with his own tail!
When friends visited for dinner, Kron continued his friendly ways and everyone, both male and female, loved him. (All adults, no children.)
The crate is set up in our bedroom, and Kron avoided going near it. He was very wary of going inside it, even when I sat there and tried to coax him in. He put on the brakes and ran the other way. Then I slowly put small treats in the crate and he gingerly reached in to the crate to eat them, but made sure his hind legs were outside. If I moved, he jumped back out of the crate. He clearly had a bad crate experience. So I slowly continued to put the treats deeper into the crate. Then I left the issue alone. Later that night as we got ready for bed, Kron walked himself right into the crate and curled up on all the blankets to go to sleep. I did not close the crate door. He stayed in there and slept through the night.
Now Kron welcomes his crate space and we find him napping in there, even if we are in a different room. It really paid off to go slowly with him to make him feel safe and comfortable.
Kron walks beautifully on lead around the neighborhood. He was fine when we passed people, and didn't even react when little dogs behind a fence were barking at us. We have not encountered other dogs on our walks, but I've been purposely walking in quiet areas.
Kron definitely has a prey drive and was busy in the backyard trying to get to a squirrel up in a tree, and to a bird who flew to her nest.
You can tell that this poor guy has been bounced around but will thrive with a stable home where he is treated with respect.
Previous post: BBBR Volunteer Abby took him to training at Good citizen Dog and says: He is so easily handled, with knowledge of sit, down, heel, stay, focus. He also started to check in and focus while heeling. So nice.
Kron parallel walked beautifully with other dogs, including Patches.
Did you know Kron was in the children's reading program at the shelter? Staff say he is amazing with children.
BBBR Boarding Facility Coordinator Jennifer says: Had another fantastic walk in the park with Kron. He really is a great dog. We sat next to the playground fence and let one little girl (on the other side of the fence) read her book to him - no touching, just reading and soft talking. We walked past yards with dogs in them. We saw a lady in a wheelchair. The only things Kron wanted to chase were ducks. He was great and calm the rest of the time. Please text Jennifer at 559 706-4226 for additional information.
Kron is in foster at Escape Canine Retreat in Boise.
Previous information: Thank you to Foster Parents Steve and Shelley for fostering him for the weekend. Steve says: Kron was a pleasure to host this weekend! He seemed to enjoy playing outside and a little keep-away with the inside toys.
