Patches: The Happiest Girl in all the Land
2-year-old, female, medium, Belgian Malinois mix
Good with other dogs: Unknown
Good with children: Unknown
Good with cats: Unknown

If you’re having a bad day, just look at our sweet Patches and you’ll be cheered up in no time. This girl has been through a lot, and yet, she’s as happy and sweet as can be. Her face just lights up when our volunteers come to give her pets and hugs.
This sweet girl came from Maricopa County Animal Care and Control and was reported to have been a dog fight that left her with a broken jaw. Of course, SPR took her to the vet right away, but the doc could find no evidence of any broken jaw, so we’re not really sure if she was actually in a dog fight. But out of an abundance of caution, we haven’t pushed socialization with other dogs yet for Patches. But seriously, this girl is soooo sweet and playful that all she needs is exercise and activity with her people!
She’s a young girl and a Mal, so that means she’s got energy to burn. She’ll definitely need an active family to keep her mentally and physically challenged. She will also need structured, consistent obedience training to ensure she grows up to be a well-mannered girl. As such, we’d also suggest a home with older children that she won’t accidentally knock down with all her energy. We’re sure she’ll pick up on instruction very quickly because this girl REALLY wants to please her people. And she takes correction on a leash very well and is learning quickly. We don’t think she’s had any previous leash training, but our dedicated volunteers are working on this with her, and Patches is a model student.
If you are interested in making Patches part of your family, please fill out our online application to get the approval process started. We will only schedule meet and greets with an approved application. All staff members are volunteers and are not compensated for their time and expenses. Many juggle family and full-time careers while volunteering at Saving Paws. Please be patient, as sometimes it takes up to 5 days to process an application.
