Meet Lola--Adoption Pending
Lola is located in a foster home. If interested in adopting her, please complete an application and we will then link you up with her foster family for an introduction.
Lola is a total love! She's about 10 months old and at her full size of 40 lbs. She's a Lab mix, maybe with some Border Collie, she has one small white patch on her chest that is shaped like a wonky heart. She's great on a leash with a harness, is crate trained, largely housebroken, and an excellent car companion. She's a very trainable girl, in the last few weeks she's mastered sit and we're working on new skills. Lola is excellent at cuddling and makes the sweetest eye contact.
She has a lot of energy which she directs into fetch, a game that she has no limit for. She hasn't shown any destructive behavior over the month and is generally gentle and careful around stuff that isn't her nemesis, antler, which she will chew into submission. She's been living with a runner and is a natural if you're looking for a trail buddy. She gets excited to see other dogs on walks but doesn't bark or lose her mind when asked to move it along.
She has been very gentle and affectionate with neighborhood kids who want to pet her. When people aren't interested in her she returns the favor and ignores them while on leash. I think her last household had kids and my sense is that would be a great fit to match her energy level. Lola is looking for a home with a good amount of space and a family that will encourage her enthusiasm for chasing a tennis ball.
During her spay, it was revealed that Lola has a congenital abnormality in that she has a large vaginal cyst. Post-spay she was experiencing some incontinence and discharge so has been placed on antibiotics and hormone medication. The antibiotics are short-term to clear up infection, but the hormones may be a lifelong medication to regulate her system and diminish the incontinence. At this time it is up to Lola's body to determine how she will respond to the medications. We can only hope that she will respond well and we can eventually wean her off the incontinence meds. Unfortunately we must also face the reality that this may be a lifelong problem, although it can be well managed and does not in any way impact her quality of life.
This beauty is also vaccinated, heartworm tested, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $300 and if interested you can access our application here: http://www.onetail.org/adoption/apply/
