Ollie here. Sometimes Ollie Oops because once in a while I bump into things. I am usually careful and don’t do it a lot but in a new place I might underestimate where objects are. I have PRA (Progressive Retinal Atrophy) — the retina in my eyes doesn’t see light. It doesn’t really bother me because I learned to navigate while it happened gradually. I remember because it is in the name: Progressive! I learned to smell and to hear better to help get around and figure out where things were. Sometimes I fool people and they don’t even notice my vision is bad. However any new place is scary to me. I really want to be adopted but I am going to be scared at first so I need someone who is patient and will work with me to get comfortable.

There are only a couple of steps in my foster home and I have a tough time going down more than 2 or 3 steps. Going up isn't so bad but it is scary to go down. I probably could learn to navigate them with some patience and training but I am not going to guarantee that!

As I was growing up, I lived with a lot of other dogs and never met new people. There are a lot of new things I don’t know anything about so I can be afraid in new situations and in new places where there are new noises. The cars driving by in the pet store parking lot scared me! I never heard that kind of noise before but the humans I knew assured me it was okay so I felt a little better.

If you have a dog that I can get cues from by following them around, I would really appreciate it. In a new place it will be best for me to have a "leader dog" to help me.

I love to play with doggie toys. (I also like to hoard them in my crate.)  I like other large and medium size dogs and like to play with them sometimes but I don't like little dogs that bark at me. I like to nap and sleep in my crate. It is a "safe place" for me.

I love attention. I am a sweet boy who needs a home better than what I had before. Do you have room to adopt me?

You can find our application at http://apbdogs.org/apply-for-adoption/

Animal Placement Bureau's standard adoption fee is $250. Our adoption process includes an application, personal and vet reference checks, and a home visit. We do not ship dogs under any circumstances.
We do not have a facility; all of our dogs are fostered in private homes. To view our dogs, please check our front page for the dates of our next Pet Parade. Appointments outside of Pet Parade to visit our dogs are only available after an application has been filled out, and processing has begun.
Please be kind to our volunteers. E-mail inquiries will be answered much faster than phone inquiries; our phone number is a voice mailbox only.
If you'd like to apply to adopt one of our dogs, please fill out the online application
