READ MORE ABOUT SCOTTY

"Mr. Scott" as we lovingly refer to him, is a sweet, loving, well-mannered, and incredibly ADORABLE, 6 year old, medium-sized, first generation Labradoodle.

Purchased as a youngster from what we are told, was a backyard breeder, this delicious, lover boy was surrendered to DRC after his beloved, elderly owner passed away suddenly. Poor little guy went through the trauma of loosing his momma and a complete change of environment when a family member took him in. After a brief stay with the family member, Scotty came to us when it was discovered that he wasn’t fond of cats.

His former caregiver explained:

“Scotty was most beloved by my aunt. When she passed away rather suddenly in mid-July, no one else in the family and no friends were prepared to take on poor Scotty with their living situations. I took him on because of my love for him and because of my love and devotion to my aunt. But Scotty needs and deserves so much more than I am able to provide him with. You see Scotty is used to having a big fenced in yard of his own and someone around all the time. My husband and I work all the time and our backyard is small. The worst part of this is that our neighborhood has many domestic and feral cats and Scotty, who had never been around cats until coming here to live with us, will bolt through our doors into the street chasing after them. This is a very busy residential street and he has run out several times. Luckily no cars hit him. We resorted to keeping him tied up in the house so if my husband or son come in, he will not run out the door. It saddens me to tie him but I can't take a chance that he will bolt in pursuit of a cat. We realize it’s not fair to Scotty and that he needs and deserves a better life than we can offer him."

Scotty’s foster mom reports;

"Scotty is a very sweet, loving, devoted little man. Not so little when he first arrived, (he was 10-12 lbs overweight) a healthy diet and plenty of exercise have resulted in a much lighter, healthier and happier Scotty. He really is just the cutest thing! Being a medium sized, first generation Labradoodle, he absolutely has more of the lab body shape and coat. His stockiness just adds to his cuteness factor. He is a spunky little guy with a huge heart and personality."

"Scotty gets along really well with my doodle. They play constantly and have really fallen in love. He LOVES to receive human attention. Always happy, he wags his tail when you call his name and rolls over for you to rub his tummy. Sweet dog! He likes to go for walks, does really well in the car, is well-mannered, loves napping and lying on the floor by your side for tummy rubs. He is completely house trained, knows most of his commands and is great company. He really has been absolutely no trouble and is basically a joy. He is allegedly sensitive about groomers touching his feet. But I have yet to see this. I think he would do well in a home where someone is around most of the time. He would be an awesome companion for retirees or for someone who works from home. I think he would also love to have a canine companion."

Scotty will need an active, dog-savvy ADULT ONLY home where someone is around for a large part of the day and a fenced in yard. He would also love another well-mannered dog close to his size, but could also be an only dog in the right home. He is neutered, micro-chipped, UTD on vaccines and preventatives and will be a wonderful addition to the right family.

You must be prepared for your dog to be an inside member of your family.
In many and most cases, a PHYSICAL FENCE IS REQUIRED in order to be considered for a DRC rescue doodle.
DRC Adoption donations typically range from: $250 - $650 and vary according to the age, health, temperament and location of each dog. Every doodle is an individual and every doodle has his/her own specific needs and requirements. Adopters are selected based on compatibility. NOT on a "first come, first serve basis. At no time does DRC ever put the desires of applicants, before or above the needs and requirements of rescue doodles in our program.
