Dante Labrador Retriever & Pit Bull Terrier Mix Sacramento, CA

Danté is a beautiful Chocolate Labrador Pit Bull mix - Labrabull which gives him a brown black blended coat with white areas. Might have a mix of either Great Dane or Rottweiler but not sure. He's between a year and three not sure of exact age. His owners abandoned him when they decided he ate too many of their chickens. He was very skittish when I took him in from a lack of socialazation. And didn't walk well on a leash in part I believe of fear of being abandoned again (but will do well once he gets used to walking around your area). So walks pretty well on a leash, but he could use some additional patience in that area.

Since I have been caring for him I have socialized him with as many people and dogs as I could. And even if another dog attacks him he doesn't react, which is good because the smallest dog only ten pounds was attacked by a Pit Bull so if Danté gets excited he doesn't notice when he gets too close and Lil Bit does go after him and to let him feel safer after the attack I don't stop him. And Danté just settles down and pays more attention to not get close to him. He instantly fit in with the little dogs and has been protective of both them and myself. If someone comes towards my room he growls and let's me know. And I believe if needed he would protect us, but it's only been my son and his girlfriend as of yet. And he loves to be in the middle of the action, whether it be in dog play or human play. But after all that play Danté is happy to settle down and cuddle up with the humans. He especially likes to snuggle in bed. And loves grooming with his Buddy a dachshund chihuahua mix.

Danté loves adults as wells as kids of all ages and loves to play with other dogs of all sizes. But is big and clumsy I believe mostly because of his youthful excitement, as you can tell he tries really hard not to run over my smaller dogs when they play. But does bump into me frequently in his excitement. Fetching stuffed toys and balls is fun but his favorite activity is keep away; you'll be lucky if he fetches more than twice. But he'll run around the yard dropping the toy only to chase after it over and over. He seems to enjoy tug-a-war if you can get close enough to grab the toy, lol.

Danté does well with car rides but wants to get out with you instead of waiting for you. So windows are a must, lol. (I have a Jeep Wrangler and had the windows off on our first trip to the dog park and he tried to follow me into the Gas Station even though I tied his lease tied to the E-brake that was attached to a harness (I believe collars are for tags not leashes) so he didn't hurt himself when he jumped out.

Danté is sweet, smart, and sensitive, and responds very well to verbal correction. Even though when in the excitement of play or what he perceives as play tends to act like he's hard of hearing. But when my sons dogs get out he will round them up and guide them home. He knows sit, stay, back, no, lie down and get out of the bathroom or kitchen. Almost forgot go outside to go potty.

Danté loves everyone he meets, but he would be best suited to an active individual, couple, or family. He hasn't been exposed to cats except over the fence which is about the only time he barks, so a no cat household might be best. Danté has been neutered and has had at least his first year of shots. He is being fostered in Sacramento. And if not for my sons dogs he would be a part of my forever home.
