Trooper Australian Shepherd & Australian Cattle Dog / Blue Heeler Mix Cincinnati, OH

This gorgeous boy was rescued by a kind hearted gentleman who had saved Trooper from one of the roughest county pounds in the area. This gentleman is a truck driver and had adopted Trooper to be his on road companion, his side kick, and his best buddy. All was going great and Trooper was loving life on the road until his gentleman friend discovered that dogs are not welcome in many of the places he travels, so he was going to be forced to take Trooper back to the horrible county pound.

That is when we stepped in and brought this stunning young man to STAF. Both Trooper and his gentleman friend cried when they had to say goodbye, there wasn’t a dry eye and Trooper was beside himself for quite some time.

We are happy to say that Trooper is settling in and truly enjoying all the attention he is getting from the STAF volunteers. Trooper is a male, Blue Heeler/Australian Shepherd mix, approximately 45 lbs and between 1/5-2 years old. Being a double-herding breed mix you can imagine the energy that this boy has to burn :o)

Trooper is housebroken, good natured and lovable, good with other dogs and we are told that he is good with kids as well. Not so good with chickens though, so those with a hen house might not be a fit for Trooper.

Trooper LOVES to take walks and he walks very well on leash. He knows his basic commands, including a wicked high five that he has demonstrated in one of his profile photos. Trooper can jump fairly high and has been known to leap a 4-foot fence with ease, so alternative fencing or alternative situations will be needed to keep Trooper safe.

We adore Trooper so much that we gave him the nickname Sooper-Dooper-Trooper!

All of our animals are spayed/neutered and current on shots.
You must complete an application at the shelter prior to meeting any of our animals. (Sorry--our application is not available on-line or via email.)
We do not do same-day adoptions; we ask that you return for a follow-up visit before taking an animal home.
We require a fenced yard (sorry--no invisible fences) for homes with children under age 11.
We do request vet and personal references.
At this time, we are only able to consider applicants within 150 miles of Cincinnati.
