Truffles Labrador Retriever Mix Palatine, IL

Hello there, I'm Truffles.... What? you say you are interested in reading my story? Well where shall I begin? Oh, how about here... I'm about 13 1/2 months old andI have a beautiful chocolate brown coat and it looks like I'm wearing golden socks. My ears are like velvet and they offset my golden eyes quite nicely thank you. I am a young girl and I already possess that look that tells you I am thinking. I was a stray in Alabama and I have a few scars from my time down there, but I like to think those add to my character. Now that I am with SCCR, I am in a safe foster home with my foster parents and their forever dogs Buddy and Gemma. Buddy is a Mastiff mix and Gemma is a Hound mix. I have lots of friends who come to daycare as well as those who board here with us. I get along well with all the dogs, both big and small, and I LOVE to play In the yard and wrestle with them. Since I don't pay any attention to the squirrels or birds, I don't bother to chase them. It's much more fun to play with my friends.

OH, I almost forgot... I think you'll like that I'm both housebroken and crate trained. I'll bark to let you know when I have to go potty, otherwise I don't hardly bark at all. And as for the crate, well, I take my naps and also sleep quietly overnight in it. Yay! Foster mom will also put me in my crate if she has to go somewhere, but I don't mind. I'm kind of a fast eater as you will soon find out. I'm like a vacuum cleaner (giggle!) and it is all gone in 3 minutes flat, and that's why foster mom is starting to have me eat from a "slow feed" bowl. I'm what you call food motivated... and maybe that's why foster mom tells me I'm a fast learner because I know "sit", "off", "come", and "go", all with the help of FOOD!

I am also learning how NOT to jump up to give hugs and kisses. I don't understand but they seem real set on only accepting hugs and kisses when we are siting on a couch together. I just get sooo excited because I really like them and other people, but I am trying. I do love to jump up on the couch when my people are sitting there and try to lay on their laps and get pets and rubs. All in all I am still a pup who needs loving patience to continue my training to help me become the best companion I can possibly be. If I do happen to do something wrong, well, I'm a fantastic listener and when you tell me "no", I will immediately stop what I'm doing.

I am very loving and sweet with people and other dogs.... I'm medium energy and would probably do better with an active family with children over 10 years old, just in case it takes a while for me to learn that jumping up to hug and kiss someone (especially if they are little) might knock them down. I can't help it... I'm a super love bug! If you don't have another dog in the family already, well, that's okay but you'll need to make sure I get a lot of exercise. Foster mom thinks I would do fantastic with another dog in the family... I'll then have someone to play with and we can wear each other out. So why not come to a Second City Canine Adoption event and check me out in person. Hope to see you this Saturday!
