Update 9/23: Lexi has tested NEGATIVE for heartworms!
Update 9/23: Lexi is a gem. She is so sweet and gentle. As soon as she enters the interaction pen, she hops up on the picnic table with a big grin. She knows I’ll join her and also give her treats and lots of pets. One of the workers helps me take out Karina and Sweet D, too, and this little family has the best time together. Each time we do this, there are lots of touching noses, kisses, and play. Lexi likes to sit on the picnic table to watch Karina and Sweet D play chase or fetch, but sometimes she’ll join in. Mostly, I think she’s happy to be reunited with her family and be loved on. She’s a dear girl and a great companion!
Lexi is a happy, active girl who seems more like a pup than an 8 year old – although for a well-cared for dog, eight isn’t all that old these days! She had a great time in the interaction pen with us, enjoying petting and bounding around to stretch her legs and release some energy. She happily greeted other dogs through the interaction pen and whenever she caught the eye of another person, her tail wagged like mad. Lexi was surrendered with her buddies Karina and Sweet D, so we know she gets along with them, and her former owners also said she is housebroken and has lived her life as an indoor dog. Lexi is in good shape, although she could stand to lose about 5 pounds or so, and a better quality diet will give her a glossier coat. Otherwise, this girl could not be improved upon! She’s past all the puppy nonsense, but still young enough to keep up with any active family!
