READ MORE ABOUT PIPPA

Pippa is an ADORABLE 2.5 year old Schnoodle (Poodle/ Schnauzer mix) rescued along with 2 other doodles from a HORRIBLE, high kill shelter in one of the most rural and remote parts of Texas.. the very bottom tip of the state on the Mexican border. Dumped at the shelter with numerous other Poodle and terrier mixed dogs by a local, backyard breeder/ puppy miller, these poor babies were in horrific shape when they first arrived at the shelter. The shelter staff and volunteers did everything in their power to triage all of the dogs at intake and reached out to DRC for assistance with Pippa and what was supposed to be 5 additional doodle dogs. Sadly 3 of the 6 pups DRC agreed to take into our program along with Pippa and her siblings, were accidentally euthanized prior to pick-up. But that is a story of heartbreak and tragedy for another time and place.

Thankfully, Pippa and 2 other mini doodles made it out of there and into the loving arms of our incredible volunteer who moved mountains and drove a tremendous distance to ensure their safe transport to their amazing DRC foster momma.

These 3 beautiful, little souls, that had obviously been relentlessly overbred, neglected, exploited and finally dumped at the shelter by their "breeder", arrived terrified, shut down and in horrible condition with numerous physical maladies not disclosed to us prior to pick up.

Pippa is an adorable and sweet young girl who like all of the other dogs dumped at this terrible place by this breeder, spent most of her young life as a breeder dog, living outdoors in a wire bottomed cage, making puppies. Prior to coming into the DRC Rescue Program, Pippa and her siblings had never experienced life as indoor dogs and companion animals with a loving family ... They did not know how to be "normal dogs"... But the great news is that they are just as sweet as can be, are accepting of love and affection and are willing to trust in spite of their beginnings... Pippa and Co are affectionate with everyone they meet once they have had time to adjust, and they are starting to learn how to play, to relax and just be happy dogs who are part of a family.

Pippa is sweet, gentle, smart, extremely loving and snuggly now that she has had time to get comfortable, and we have started to see her wonderful personality and docile temperament emerge.

Unknown to us prior to her arrival, and sadly, prior to her spay surgery, Pippa was pregnant with 4 puppies when she arrived. Tragically, her pregnancy went undetected by both shelter vets and our own vet prior to her scheduled spay surgery. We were absolutely devastated when we learned that the clinic we entrusted with Pippa's spay failed to inform us of their discovery of 4 fully formed, near term, viable puppies they systematically murdered without even giving us a choice in the matter. Part 2 of the tragedies involved with the rescue of these beautiful babies.

Pippa has recovered beautifully from her ordeal. She is thriving in her foster home, has learned her name, crate training, is learning her basic manners and commands, how to walk on a leash, is becoming more socialized, less fearful and is loving every minute of life with her incredible foster momma and family! She is smart and pretty laid back. She loves being a couch potato and when not distracted by her foster siblings, likes to stick close.

Because Pippa is a puppy mill survivor and has really only known the company of other dogs, she will need a very specific type of home and family. She will need a patient, dog experienced, adult only person or family, a home where someone is around for a large part of the day with another, well mannered, resident dog or dogs for company. She must also be allowed on furniture as it facilitates her bonding process and helps to solidify her trust in her human pack. Because she is a potential flight risk, Pippa will also require a home that has a yard adjacent to the house that is surrounded by a physical fence at least 4' in height. She will require patience and tons of love and encouragement as she settles into her new home and her new life with her "furever" family.

Pippa is spayed, micro-chipped, UTD on all vaccines and preventatives and will be a wonderful companion for the right family.

You must be prepared for your dog to be an inside member of your family.

In many and most cases, a PHYSICAL FENCE IS REQUIRED in order to be considered for a DRC rescue doodle.

DRC Adoption donations typically range from: $250 - $500 and vary according to the age, health, temperament and location of each dog. Every doodle is an individual and every doodle has his/her own specific needs and requirements. Adopters are selected based on compatibility. NOT on a "first come, first serve basis. At no time does DRC ever put the desires of applicants, before or above the needs and requirements of rescue doodles in our program.
