Meet Sleeves

Say hello to Sleeves. Yes, funny name. Just look at his one leg and you can see why. He recently went up for adoption and the volunteers are taking time to learn about him. This handsome boy was in a yard, tied outside, in filth, and no real companionship. The person denied owning him, but neighbors said otherwise. Luckily, the person agreed to let the dog go to the shelter. Many times dogs tied outside for a long time can either go crazy, be timid and scared, or can become territorial and aggressive. However, there are many many situations where the dogs are friendly, happy, loving and ready to face the world with a new "leash on life". That's this boy. He is overwhelmed with the attention he is receiving and eager to return it. I actually feel as though he is "socially awkward" as he learns how to fit in. He is a clingy boy right now that just wants to soak up cuddles. He has a smile a mile wide and just loves the world. He was completely filthy and had to have a few baths to see the white in his fur. As much as we don't like to see dogs at the shelter and we want them in homes, this is one of those situations where the shelter is a better place for him. A bed in his kennel, food, water, a roof over his head and people that are working with him. If he could say a big thank you to everyone that has handled him thus far, I am sure he would. Well. Actually, you can see it in his smile.....
