Meet Minnie
Minnie came to us when she was 6 months old. She had several compromising health conditions, and was in danger of euthanasia at another shelter. When we took her in, she had severe diarrhea and was very small for her age. After many months in the shelter, we discovered that she does very well on a limited ingredient diet of rabbit, and that she needs a low-stress household. Minnie is a bit single-kitten-ish, which means that she never had another feline companion from whom to learn appropriate behavior and boundaries. So she will need a person who can watch her cues and teach her when she is being too rough.
Minnie’s Meet Your Match assessment was done but she did not match up with a personality type because she has special emotional needs. She received an extremely low valiance (bravery) score. This tells us that she will need plenty of time to adjust to a new home and new family. It will be crucial to her adjustment in a new home that she be isolated to a single room, ideally one that doesn’t have furniture for her to hide under, with the understanding that she may need to stay in this “safe room” for weeks or even months until she is ready to spend time in the rest of the house.
