Meet Madge
Madge is a 3-4 year old, 45 lb. Lab mix.
She knows how to sit and is house trained as well as crate trained. She is insecure when meeting new people but has grown close with volunteers and gets excited to see us. She is fairly mellow and a good girl in the house.
Madge plays well with some dogs (she likes to wrestle). She seems to love smaller dogs or dogs her size who are submissive and/or have generally goofy personality! She can not go to a home with cats.
We hold an adoption day at the shelter every Saturday from 12:00-5:00.
You are welcome to email bradyfromlighthouse@gmail.com for more information on the dog you would like to adopt, whether or not the dog has any applications pending, and/or to set up a different day and time to meet our adoptable dogs, if Saturday's adoption day does not work for you. Or call the shelter at 508-999-7387.
You can find a printable version of our application on our website (www.lighthouseanimalshelter.org), if you would like to expedite the process, or you can wait to fill one out at the shelter when you visit. PLEASE CALL ALL OF YOUR REFERENCES (landlord, if applicable, vet(s) and personal references) before filling out an application.
Once we receive your application, we will check home ownership or landlord permission, personal references and vet references. If approved and selected as the best match for a dog that you'd like to adopt, we would then set up a home visit and bring the dog, and if that goes well, then the dog would stay for a home trial and finalize the adoption in a week to 10 days generally. We do not adopt on a first come, first serve basis, but rather by the best match between dog and family, although we will factor in the order of applications if there are equally good matches.
Our adoption fee is $375 ($390 if paid by PayPal) which covers the costs of vetting (spay, vaccinations, heartworm testing, preventatives while in our care, deworming and microchip) and any boarding or transport fees incurred in each dog's rescue.
