Princess Pit Bull Terrier Mix Elizabethtown, PA

Raised in a crack house and surrounded by drug addicts, Princess was bought out of her misery by a caring man, for just a few dollars. He loved and cared for this withdrawn and guarded girl until he ended up in jail and Princess found herself living alone in his apartment for a month, with one visit each day from the man's sister who fed and walked her. The woman did her best to care for her brother's beloved companion but knew that a choice had to be made. Being fearful of strangers and guarded with other dogs, Princess stood little chance of making it out of a NYC shelter alive. Finally a rescue was found and when introduced to her first foster home, Princess growled in fear and her chances were gone. The rescue felt that she needed professional help and so a trainer was asked to take her home, to give her the best chance.

She was overwhelmed by dogs and people and had poor social skills. All she knew was to growl or lash out to stay safe from harm. Progress was slow, but as time went by Princess learned to trust and love her trainer and family. She learned to play, sleep, and interact with other dogs. Today Princess is still shy and a little guarded with new people, but warms up fast if not overwhelmed and given a few minutes, and some cookies. She has transformed into a loving and social girl who does not want to fight, but to show affection. She has a particular liking for puppies and has been a wonderful foster mom to many orphan Pit bull babies that have stayed at her trainer's home.

Princess is now looking for an experienced and understanding home to call her very own for the first time in her life. She is looking for a family who will continue to help her blossom and be the best she can be. Could that be you?
