Meet Cashew

Cashew was pregnant and in a very full kill-shelter. We rescued her and she soon gave birth to 12 squirming puppies. Then, almost overnight all but 3 died. Cashew was frantic trying to get her babies to move and nurse. It was so sad!

In an effort to save the last pups, we took them and have someone bottle-feeding them 'round the clock. Cashew now misses ALL her babies and is sad at our shelter. Please help this sweet mama get happy!

Cashew is around two years old and is healthy but has a case of heartworms which we'll see her through. Heartworms aren't contagious, you and other animals will not contract heartworms from Cashew. They are curable when caught early and show no outward symptoms except in advanced cases (coughing). Heartworms are caused by mosquitoes and are all too common here in the south but are completely preventable with an inexpensive monthly pill. Cashew is taking a monthly pill (which we will pay for) until a blood test (which we'll also pay for) shows she's rid of them. This could take 6 months to over a year. We've had many happy adopters who've rescued a heartworm-positive dog. Speak to your vet if you need more feedback.

Email Homelesspetsfoundation@gmail.com or call 770-971-0100 for more info. Or fill out an adoption application, found at www.homelesspets.com/adoption-form.
